The Uk’s second biggest supermarket group, Asda, have announced that they will be taking on an extra 10,000 temporary staff for the anticipated Christmas and New Year shopping rush. The good employment news comes a week after rival group Sainsbury announced the recruitment of its holiday staff.
Asda already employ a 10,000 strong ’seasonal squad’ who are contracted to work at Christmas and the New Year along with other busy periods such as Easter. The temporary staff will make up a full compliment of 20,000 to be employed over the Christmas season, which Asda CEO Andy Clarke expects to be “our biggest Christmas ever”.
The Asda group say that the extra positions are on top of their commitment to creating 7,000 new jobs before the end of the year.
