Hauliers across the UK are uniting today in protest at the governments planned fuel tax increase, the drivers will congregate at Marble Arch in London for a rally, while a delegation from Transaction 2007 will deliver a petition to the Prime Minister demanding the introduction of a fuel duty rebate.
The lorry drivers consider that the increases in fuel duty in the UK are putting many out of business and already they face stiff competition from Europe where drivers can fill up with cheaper fuel and distribute goods throughout the UK, without contribution to the UK exchequer.
Transaction 2007 is calling for the introduction of an ‘essential user rebate’, that would enable them to claim back possibly 20-25p per litre of their costs.
