The Guardian reports that UK model maker Hornby have increased annual profits by 17%, with strong sales since switching to new digitally controlled products.
Hornby’s digital Scalextric racing car sets showed strong year on year growth while the digital Virgin Trains Pendolino brought in most revenue, says the report.
Hornby pre tax profits rose to £9million in the year ending March 31st from £7.7million in the previous year.
Hornby will launch a James Bond themed Scalextric set in the autumn, to coincide with the release of the next Bond movie, Quantum Of Solace.
For all of us boys who haven’t grown up it is reassuring to know that Hornby has recently added Corgi to its collection of British toys and hopes to restore the die cast model brand to it’s former glory.
The company also owns Airfix and Humbrol paints, both currently exceeding expected sales.
