Construction and investment group Balfour Beatty PLC has just paid £45m for civil engineers Dean & Dyball Ltd, strengthening their presence in southern England and Wales.
The increasingly acquisitive Balfour Beatty snapped up building contractors Cowlin last summer for £52m; civil engineers Birse were integrated in 2006 and the Mansell building enterprise in 2003.
Dean & Dyball’s portfolio of relationships is well positioned for growth according to Balfours. This spans private and public sectors, in property development, services to the rail industry and key projects with the Environment Agency in addition to their core civil engineering business.
Dean & Dyball showed a pre tax profit of £4.5m to September 2007 and employ 700 staff.
