Following a year that has tested the patience of both British Airways management, staff and passengers alike, the UKs number one airline have been in the news for some of the right reasons so far in 2011.

Most recently British Airways has announced a year long partnership with Comic Relief under the banner of Flying Start and with the help of the charity organisation the programme aims to transform lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable children both at home and abroad.

Together, British Airways and Comic Relief have created a year-round fundraising initiative, making it a truly unique partnership that will transform lives both at a local level and on a global scale.

In an attempt at gaining further publicity for the Flying Start project, British Airways will be hosting a stand up comedy performance with a difference, when comedians Dara O’Briain, Jack Whitehall and Jon Richardson will be teaming up with BA, Guinness World Records to set the record for the Highest Stand Up Comedy Gig in the World.

Seventy five lucky people will be aboard the plane to witness this unique event, two and a half hours of comedy entertainment including Champagne and refreshments all in the name of charity.

The production line in the West Midlands has seen three generations of Range Rovers being produced at the factory over the last forty years.

To mark the occasion the £85,000 vehicle will be donated to the Help For Heroes charity that provides support for soldiers and their families who have been wounded or killed in action.

Land Rover Managing Director Phil Popham will drive the one millionth Range Rover to London to hand the car to Help for Heroes. He will be followed on the M40 by a convoy of historic previous-generation Range Rovers, driven by their enthusiastic owners.

The destination is the Top Gear Live set in Earls Court where Jeremy Clarkson – who is a Help for Heroes patron – and war veterans will take delivery of the land mark car on behalf of the charity. The Range Rover being donated is the highest-specification model currently available, and estimates suggest it will raise over £100,000 for charity when auctioned later this year.

The seven-year-old Intelius gave over $360,000 to more than a dozen local and national nonprofit organizations in 2009, with nearly $260,000 of that amount going to Washington State nonprofit organizations. With just 260 employees, 2009 donations set a record for the company.

Intellius was founded by Naveen Jain in January 2003 as an information commerce company whose services include background checks, pre-employment screening, criminal checks and an award-winning identity theft prevention service.

In the seven years since it was founded Intellius has become one of the Top 100 most trafficked business sites on the web, offering crucial information for a myriad of commercial applications.

It is no surprise given the business acumen and generosity of the CEO Naveen Jain, that he learnt his trade under Bill Gates at Microsoft, where he became a senior executive before launching his own InfoSpace business in 1996.

Since then Jain has moved from strength to strength, working seven days a week, often for eighteen hours a day, it is no fluke that his businesses have become so successful.
