Manufacturers of London’s iconic black cab, Manganese Bronze, have announced that worldwide orders for the taxi cab have now exceeded 3000, since the companies joint venture with Chinese business Shanghai LTI.
Orders from Mexico, Eastern Europe, South America and the Middle East have been mentioned although the eventual whereabouts of the vehicles is a closely guarded secret known only to those involved.
In 2006 the Shanghai based plant manufactured just 92 taxis, but orders now in the pipeline means that the China output would be at a similar level to that of the Coventry based UK plant.
